Aside from local feuds, respected public broadcaster Raffy Tulfo is always ready to tackle problems abroad as well. Earlier this week, the host helped rescue a Pinay domestic worker who was being abused by her foreign employers.
Christine Carriaga is a domestic worker in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, who sought help from her relatives in the Philippines. According to the victim’s cousin, Jenalyn Garcia, the domestic worker has been badgering them for help ever since her foreign employer tried to take advantage of her.
Aside from the s*xual harassment from his male employer, Carriaga also suffers physical violence from her female employer’s jealous outbursts. This lead to several bumps and bruises all over her body, which she showed in a video.
To ensure that Carriaga would be rescued from her abusive employers, Raffy Tulfo called Rowena Calunsag from the Hi-Mark Agency. The owner claimed that they are already waiting for Carriaga’s exit visa for her repatriation to be approved.
When she finally went home, the grateful domestic worker visited Raffy Tulfo in his studio to express her gratitude personally. During the show, Carriaga revealed how her salary for five months was withheld from her.
Even though she doesn’t have a single dime on her pocket, she was still delighted to escape her prison-like situation abroad.
Upon hearing her pitiful story, Raffy Tulfo shelled out an astounding PHP 50,000 for the former domestic worker. According to the host, Carriaga can use this amount to start her life anew.
