Mocha Uson Admits Mistake On Stating Mayon Volcano Is Found In Naga City

Social media erupts with Mocha Uson's 'Mayon in Naga' remark

PCOO Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson has admitted her mistake of locating the Mayon Volcano in Naga City on her controversial statement.

Esther Margaux Justiniano Uson or popularly known as Mocha Uson, the assistant secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) is now making rounds online after making mistakes in locating Mt. Mayon.

Uson mistakenly said in a statement that Mayon Volcano is located in Naga City, which garnered criticisms from the social media users.

Communications Assistant Secretary Margaux "Mocha" Uson initially thought so, while explaining why she returned her award from the University of Santo Tomas Alumni Association on Wednesday.

"Ginagamit po ng ilang mga tao ang isyu na 'to, itong isyu sa award, para pagtakpan 'yung isyu ng Dengvaxia, isyu ng pagtanggap diumano ni Senator Drilon ng pera kay Napoles, at ang pinakamahalaga pa, 'yang nangyayari sa Naga, 'yang pag-aalburuto ng Mayon Volcano," Uson said in her video blog (vlog).

Critics have questioned her eligibility to receive the UST award for government service. But the assistant secretary said the issue has been blown out of proportion when there are more important issues that need to be discussed.

Mayon Volcano is an active stratovolcano at the heart of eight municipalities in Albay province. It is around 88 km away from Naga, Camarines Sur which is more than a two-hour trip by car.

The active volcano has been spewing lava and columns of ash since January 13.

While she made this horrible mistake other netizens took the opportunity to poke fun at the mistake.

But there are also people who defend Uson for her mistake.

But she admits that she had a mistake because were just human anyways. We human often makes mistake.

"Pasensya na po, inaamin ko po na nagkamali ako," she said.

In the video, it can be seen that Uson was expressing her frustrations about the controversial government service award she received from the UST Alumni Association Inc. when she suddenly located Mayon in Naga while giving her statement.

Eventually, the 35-year-old former singer also admitted her mistakes in locating Mt. Mayon in Naga City after receiving distasteful remarks from her bashers online.
